Let’s talk about nourishing our bodies during this Taurus full moon. As we cross the threshold from summer to winter, our physical vessel needs to be supported by grounding practices. One very Taurian way to do this is through cooking & indulging in delicious food, as this zodiac sign loves life’s earthly pleasures.

Since summer, I have been living a nomadic lifestyle, on the road. This whole experience has reinforced my Piscean ways. Travel light, move often, go with the flow. Despite its many freedoms, living life on the road does have its challenges. The biggest one I’ve found is the unknown of where my next meal will come from.
In summer this didn't seem to bother me as much but as the weather rapidly changes & cools, my body is craving grounded, home cooked meals. Just in time, I have settled into a little hunting camp that has a kitchen, something I didn’t realize was such a privilege until you live without it.
One of my favorite nourishing meals is homemade chicken & wild rice soup. My evolution in the Midwest has coaxed me to let go of 15 years of rigid & restrictive vegan ways & get in tune with my body providing it with the sustenance it truly needs. Under the waxing moon, I threw the last of my garden harvested potatoes, some carrots, onions, celery, spices, wild rice & chicken in a pot with broth & bone for good measure.

I tended to my soup stirring every hour or so with intention & appreciation for the practice of cooking, something I’ve been desperately missing. Since we are still in the energy of the Celtic celebration of Samhain when the veil is thin, I took a moment to imagine my ancestors stirring a cauldron in Ireland full of potatoes & mutton, an act of love & dedication to feed their families. I ate my soup by candle light & shared it with my loved ones (my dog enjoyed a little too). Later that evening pulling cards I got the Cauldron card, reinforcing the message & imagery I received.
This first home cooked meal in months was the best tasting soup I’ve made yet. In a time where food scarcity is a real, pressing issue, I paused for a moment of gratitude for my full, nourished belly. Each meal is a gift, especially when you can taste the love in it.
After studying nutrition for over half a decade, I have shifted away from a scientific approach (which influenced my disordered eating habits) to intuitive eating. Giving myself permission to eat what truly feels supportive to my body at that moment. Focusing on seasonal eating practices can help to ground your body in the present moment, feel aligned with nature & eat more sustainably.
This time of year is potent with Vata energy, which feels like a cold, dry, stark, whipping wind. Altering your food choices to include more warming, nourishing, oily or richer foods can counteract this seasonal energy, keeping you anchored so you don't blow away with the first chill of winter.

Cooking with root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, parsnips, beets, onions provide a grounding energy in meals, since they are grown & harvested directly from the earth. Offering that real Taurian, fixed, rooted energy. Simplify your meals & use whole ingredients if possible, bringing conscious awareness to the ingredients you put in your body. I also recommend using warming spices like black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, ginger & tumeric to boost your body’s internal fire as we come into a cooling time of year.
My final grounding practice involving food is to start each morning & end each day with tea. Many of my favorite teas have ashwagandha, a herb that reduces stress, promotes sleep & offers a sense of calm. Caffeine can dry your body out more & increase feelings of restlessness & anxiety, so be mindful of which warm beverages you choose.
This Taurus full moon, make your favorite hearty meal or see how it feels to slowly sip a cup of tea before bed. Even our food habits can create an energetic shift allowing us to raise our vibration & align with the energy of the earth. Cook with love for your body, gratitude for the food you are fortunate to eat & if possible, share with your community.
Until next moon,
Kerry + metamoon
