scorpio full moon + vulnerability

I was called to work through the energy of the full moon in Scorpio first, reflect & then write. The prominent theme I felt within myself & others was: vulnerability. The most beautiful thing about vulnerability is that it expresses itself differently in every being. It is about exploring the most challenging, uncomfortable & hidden aspects of your soul & making peace with them. Accepting all unique facets of ourselves that we don’t think are worthy of showing others.
Scorpio is often associated with the deep, dark & taboo. Being a water sign, it can be envisioned as diving into the abyss of the open ocean at night. This is not typically a place we would like to find ourselves, exposed to whatever lies in the depths, unable to see what is coming. Ultimate vulnerability.

Only through acceptance & surrender can we begin to heal, release & calm our nervous system. If we allowed ourselves to be at peace & float in the dark ocean, we would waste less energy, emerge out of fight or flight & into rest until the sun rises on a new day.
Personally, I find each full moon brings with it a new message or lesson. Illuminating a part of my self & soul that could use a tune up or a full reboot. This full moon in Scorpio I had many things fall apart, break or cease to exist, leaving me feeling bare, alone, unsupported. By accepting situations out of my control, sitting with the uncertainty & opening myself up to others, I was able to move through the discomfort into a place of gratitude & peace.
When I think of these feelings of vulnerability & authenticity, I am called to the sacral chakra. This sits right below our belly button in the pelvic basin. This part of the body is our connection to our mother, where our umbilical cord once nourished us. A part of the body that is sensitive to the touch, that holds vital organs & even creates life. We hold so much power in this area, but we are often disconnected from this life force, holding feelings of shame, fear or self-sabotage here instead.

Through expressions of raw vulnerability we can realign & tune into our sacral chakra. I selected the following yoga pose to support & guide you into a softer, open place. During this moon cycle take at least 5 to 10 minutes for yourself, laying on your floor, a mat or a blanket. Grab two small pillows or a blanket in case you would like more support. Laying on your back, bend your knees & bring the soles of your feet to the mat about, 6 inches apart. Bring your hands to your sacral chakra or right below your navel. Focus your attention on your breath, inhale through the nose & imagine exhaling out of your navel.
After getting settled with your breath, incorporate dynamic movement within this pose. As you inhale, bring your knees to touch. Then as you exhale allow your knees to gently open & fall apart, towards the mat. Perhaps your knees touch the ground or place a small pillow on each side & allow your knees to each rest on a pillow. Maybe the soles of your feet also touch as your knees splay open. You can continue to move with your breath until you feel you’ve had enough, then allow yourself to rest in this supported, reclined butterfly pose with your hands on your navel. Surrender to this moment with yourself. Vulnerable, authentic you.

Until next moon,
